Recap fits a team that already knows its creators and wants to find public posts, decide what belongs, and produce a traceable report. Modash fits a team that also needs creator discovery, outreach, relationship management, payments, or affiliate tools. Both can track creator content. The decision is how much of the surrounding program you want in one platform.

The Modash details above come from its tracking feature and pricing page. These are published product claims, not a hands-on benchmark. Check the current plan and platform coverage before buying.
Choose Recap when the job is post-to-report
You already have the roster. Your team needs to see what those creators actually posted, review matches against a brief, keep original links, and explain the results. In Recap, create a tracker for each platform you need, add creator accounts and matching terms, and include known direct post links. Review the collected posts before the report. The public sample tracker shows the review flow with fictional data.
Recap's founding plan lists 31-day trackers and CSV exports. It is a narrower product. It does not replace a creator marketplace, outreach system, gifting program, or payment platform.
Choose Modash when tracking is one part of a larger program
Modash is a stronger fit if you need to find new creators, manage conversations, run affiliate or Shopify workflows, pay creators, or capture Stories where supported. Its published tracking materials describe campaign collection across Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, including an event mode for posts that omit a campaign tag. Those capabilities are meaningful if creator operations live in the same tool as reporting.
If X is an important source, verify Modash's current X support for your exact workflow. Its tracking page names Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube; that is narrower than saying the whole Modash product has no X capability.
A five-minute buying test
Take ten real creator accounts and one recent brief. List the posts you expect a report to include, including one post without the planned hashtag and one with a missing metric. Ask each vendor to show how it finds those posts, handles the exception, preserves the source URL, and exports the final record. Then decide whether discovery and payments belong in the same purchase.
Compare the output, not just the setup
Put the two results beside the same expected-post list. Count missed posts, false matches, and posts that need a manual link. Open the exported report and check whether you can identify the source post and the time its metrics were checked. If your team also sources or pays creators, include those tasks in the test; Recap does not offer a creator marketplace or payments workflow.
The report template gives you one set of fields and quality checks to use for both products. The public Recap sample tracker shows the review interface with fictional content; it is not proof that a particular creator account will be collected in your workspace.
